Preparation
- Rinse the ribs thoroughly under cold water and dry them completely with paper towels.
- If using liquid smoke, douse the dry ribs with it and rub it into the meat.
- Lightly coat the ribs with olive oil.
- In a bowl, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, Cajun seasoning, dark brown sugar, chili powder, salt, paprika, and oregano.
- Generously sprinkle the seasoning mix over the ribs on both sides.
- Massage the spice mixture into the meat. Add more olive oil if needed.
- For best results, place the seasoned ribs in a large ziplock bag or a covered bowl and marinate in the fridge for 1-2 hours.
Cooking
- Preheat your oven to 250°F.
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the ribs in a single layer.
- Cover the ribs with another piece of foil to create a pouch.
- Bake for about 3½ to 4 hours. Check ribs after 3½ hours.
- Once finished, drain off any excess fat and brush with BBQ sauce.
- Broil the ribs on low, uncovered, until the sauce is sticky.
- Let the ribs rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, experiment with different BBQ sauces or opt for smoked salt for a stronger flavor. Marinating longer enhances the flavor further.
