Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- Mix all the dry ingredients—flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika—in a large bowl or plastic bag.
- Add the chicken wing pieces and toss them in the mixture until completely coated.
- For best results, refrigerate the wings for 30 minutes to allow the coating to adhere better during frying.
Making the Sauce
- In a small saucepan, combine the Franks hot sauce, Cholula hot sauce, and butter.
- Heat over low heat, stirring until the butter melts and the sauces meld together.
- Once combined, remove from heat and set aside.
Frying the Wings
- In a large frying pan, heat the high-heat cooking oil over medium heat, ensuring enough oil to partially submerge the wings.
- Carefully add about half of the wings to the pan and fry for about 7-8 minutes until beautifully browned.
- Flip the wings halfway through to cook evenly to a magnificent golden-brown color.
Tossing in Sauce
- Transfer the cooked wings to a large bowl and immediately toss them in the prepared hot sauce until evenly coated.
- Serve the wings hot, or keep them warm in a 200-degree oven on a cookie sheet.
Serving
- Serve with a side of blue cheese or ranch dressing to balance the heat.
Notes
For extra crispy wings, double-fry them. Marinate the wings in the spice mixture overnight for a deeper flavor. Experiment with different sauces by adding honey or different spices to the base recipe.
