Ingredients

Dry Rub Ingredients
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp ground onion powder
  • 1 Tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 Tbsp cumin
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 2 Tbsp coarse kosher salt
  • 1 Tbsp coarse ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp brown sweetener (like golden monk fruit, coconut sugar, or brown sugar) for a touch of sweetness
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp cayenne pepper optional, adjust for desired spice level
Main Ingredients
  • 1.25 lb chicken wings (separated into wingettes and drumettes)
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, sea salt, black pepper, brown sweetener, and cayenne pepper. Mix until well combined. This dry rub can be made in advance and stored for future recipes.
Preheat the Air Fryer
  1. Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and preheat for about 5 minutes. This ensures that the wings begin cooking immediately for optimal crispiness.
Prep the Chicken Wings
  1. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove moisture. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the wings with olive oil and 2 tablespoons of the dry rub, mixing until the wings are evenly coated.
Cooking the Wings
  1. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for a total of 17-19 minutes, flipping the wings after 9-10 minutes to ensure even cooking. Check for doneness after 17 minutes and continue cooking if they need more time.
Serve and Enjoy
  1. Once cooked to perfection, serve the wings warm with your favorite dipping sauces and enjoy!

Notes

For maximum crispiness, ensure the chicken wings are dried thoroughly before adding oil and rub. Experiment with different spices in the dry rub for a unique flavor. If cooking for a crowd, divide the wings into batches to avoid overcrowding the air fryer.
