Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2-3 pieces medium boneless and skinless chicken breasts Sliced in half horizontally for quicker cooking.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil Ideal for frying.
  • 4 tablespoons butter For richness.
  • 1 cup finely chopped or sliced onions The star of the dish.
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar Adds flavor depth.
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey or sugar For balance of sweetness and acidity.
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth For sauce base.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Brings the dish to life.
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese Optional, for additional flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Slice the chicken breasts in half horizontally to make them thinner.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together garlic powder, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Season both sides of the chicken breasts.
Cooking
  1. Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side until fully cooked and golden brown.
  3. Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest on a plate.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the chopped onions. Cook on low-medium heat for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Add balsamic vinegar and honey, sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  6. Whisk in chicken broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and add heavy cream.
  7. Simmer for 1-2 minutes until sauce slightly thickens.
  8. Stir in parmesan cheese, if using, and return chicken to the pan, spooning sauce over it without fully submerging.

Notes

Consider marinating the chicken in spices for 30 minutes for more flavor. Experiment with herbs like thyme or rosemary, or try turkey or plant-based proteins for variations. Serve with creamy sides like mashed potatoes or noodles, and pair it with fresh salads for a balanced meal.
