Ingredients

Frosting Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened) Provides a smooth and fluffy texture.
  • 16 ounces powdered sugar (about 4 cups) Adds sweetness and helps achieve the silky consistency.
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (room temperature) Boosts creaminess and makes frosting light and airy.
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Elevates the frosting with deep chocolate flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract Enhances the flavor profile.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened butter on medium speed until it becomes light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  2. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and cocoa powder for an even blend.
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa mixture to the creamed butter. Then add the heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  4. Increase the speed to medium-high and beat for about 3 minutes until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  5. If too thick, add more heavy cream one tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is achieved.
Serving
  1. Spread the frosting on cakes or cupcakes. Use a piping bag fitted with a 1M tip for decorative effects.
  2. For leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

Ensure butter is softened for a light texture. For extra fluffiness, whip at high speed, but avoid over-whipping. Variations include adding espresso powder or almond extract for different flavors.
