Preparation
- If using homemade pizza dough, prepare it according to your favorite recipe.
- If using store-bought dough, allow it to rest at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes.
Cooking
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Cut the pizza dough into 8 equal pieces, each weighing about 2 oz. Roll each piece into a square shape, approximately 6” x 6.”
- Layer the filling: Start with 1 oz of fontina cheese, followed by provolone slices, leaving a ½" border along the edges.
- Sprinkle over ⅛ tsp each of oregano and garlic powder.
- Top with 8-10 slices of pepperoni.
- Roll the dough from one side around the filling, tucking it in to keep snug, and pinch the edges closed.
- Place the rolls seam side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Whisk the egg and water together in a small bowl, and apply the egg wash over the tops of the rolls.
- Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning.
- Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden and crispy.
Notes
Dough Resting: Allowing the dough to rest helps it relax for easier shaping. For cheese variations, consider adding mozzarella or cheddar. Fresh herbs like basil can elevate flavor.
